The ancient Rajputs fort on the Pavagadh hill has three lines of defence one above the other. The first line of defence is entered through the Atak gate. It is a double storeyed structure with catapults datable to 13th century A.D.
Conservation and Preservation
An approach pathway is provided between the upper and lower gates of the Atak Gate to facilitate the tourists’ movement. Further, at the side of the lower gate, missing R.R. stone masonry is provided to strengthen this complex as also prevent erosion of the soil through these gates.
